We often wonder that how do the actors and actresses from our favorite shows give such natural performances that it gets hard for us to believe that whatever is happening on-screen is purely fictitious. However, something that never crosses our minds is the fact that there is a possibility that these actors might have had the same background or exposure to the same environment in reality that the director creates on the set. One of such shows is the very famous and the most watched show, Game of Thrones. You must have noticed Josephine Gillan’s role in the show and after watching her act so naturally, you must have thought that how is this lady performing so naturally that it seems like she has lived the role that she is forming, in reality.
Well, at times ironically it is true that these amazing performers have seen such bitter realities in their life and have suffered in the same way as you see them suffering on-screen which is what gives it that natural touch. Not only Game of Thrones a depiction of the background from which Josephine belongs but also it helped her escape from the ugly reality that had been a part of her life.
This amazing actress who worked in the season two of the show has suffered from child abuse and someone got her into class-A drugs and alcohol. Unlike many actresses, Josephine had a troubled past where her mother fled from a violent relationship and Josephine had to change at least 24 primary schools that disturbed her formal education. At the age of 12, she was taken into care and later she was handed over to a foster home. Unfortunately, that is what proved to be the reason behind her misery.
What happened was that she went to a house where a family friend manipulated her as a teen. He got her into cannabis and alcohol at a tender age of 12. Josephine’s misery did not end there because soon the same man turned her into a cocaine addict and when that did not serve the purpose either, two years later he raped an innocent girl. Ironically, the poor child could not even inform anyone about the incident because he claimed to bury her in the garden if she tried telling anyone. Not only that but he even started selling her for nights!
However, when things got better and she managed to live a normal life once she got out of the foster home, and she developed self-hatred. Hence, Josephine ended up calling off her engagement and adopting pr0stitution as a profession. When she saw the advertisement that called for actresses, at that time she was making x-rated movies and was a professional pr0stitute. The ad said that there was a need of a girl who was comfortable being naked, and since it was very much a part of her life, so she sent her pictures. Fortunately, Josephine received an offer from GOT.
hile entering the set of Game of Thrones, like any other person Josephine was nervous but soon she realized that many of the actresses belonged to a background that was similar to hers. Her role required her to do stuff that she had already done as a part of her former profession, and so while male actors got nervous pretending to have s*x on the set in front of 30 crew members, Josephine was pretty confident.
Josephine has not only been a part of the season two of Game of Thrones but also three, four, five, six and it is reported that she has even signed the contract for season seven as well that will be in production by next year. After working on this show, she has gotten many offers for conventional roles, and she is one of the actresses who are in demand.
